Another year in the books!
We are thankful for all the blessings God has bestowed upon us and try not to take any of them for granted. We got to spend time with family, friends, reconnect with old friends and spend quality time together. J&J also celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary–woohoo!
Caleb (6) is a leader in his kindergarten class and still loves being creative with arts and crafts. New this year is his love for reading books by himself, catching hundreds of waves on his bodyboard and refining his arsenal of killer dance moves.
Aiden (9) started third grade and is trying out some new activities. It was so neat to watch his face light up when his first basketball hoop went in 🙂 He also wanted to try swimming, in an attempt to get his body ready for the Junior Guard program next summer. He is also a voracious reader and was selected to represent his class in the spelling bee.
For Jen, 2021 was another overflowing, fulfilling and productive year as mom, military spouse and Sr. Manager at Deloitte. For weekend fun, Jen enjoyed boogieboarding, paddle boarding and boating with the boys, as well as traveling and overcoming fears with her hyper-risk-taking husband (e.g., uber-fast racecars and 550 foot high Ferris wheels). Some of her fondest memories of the year were holding down the fort with the boys while Jason was away on temporary overseas Air Force duties (…think dessert before dinner, “dance parties” and pillow fights :)). Sadly, it was a year filled with both joy and sorrow; Jen lamented the loss of her Godmother and Aunt–someone very dear to her heart and to many. Together they shared their faith and love for crocheting. ❤
Jason had another fun year in his Air Force job and got to add Italy, Romania, Poland and Switzerland to his list of countries visited! When he wasn’t traveling, driving race cars with Jen on date night or coaching soccer, he enjoyed watching everyone put on their wetsuits, grab their boards and hop into the Pacific ocean to catch some waves in Newport over the summer. A new first was prepping for, and conquering, a Grand Canyon hike that took his group of friends over 50 miles from the south rim, to the north rim, and back, with over 10,000′ altitude change in both directions–what an experience!
